KAMI ITABASHI: Tokyo Ramen Ooban. Could ramen be any worse? Unlucky me...

My main motive to goto this far off location was Hungry Heavens brand new burger shop (the moved locations in this town).  But the line was 30 deep at 2pm and nah... I just couldn't wait.

Roaming around this town and smelled something rather stinky... not just bad stinky but a kind of addictive stinky that I have only smelled at a ramen shop in Kumamoto. OK! 500 yen ramen and stinky?  I'm in!

Lots and lots of items on the menu but had to try the Ramen with the mini braised pork belly rice bowl.

Ramen starts at a very friendly 500 yen and this shop was filled with high school students and some families with little children.  Prices go up with toppings but base ramen is the same.

Some daily manager specials written on the white board.

My view for the afternoon.  Counter seating but there were several tables.

First the mini kakuni-don bowl arrived.  Flavor was there but definitely not the great stuff you can find at an Okinawan restaurant like Tachibin:

And the ramen arrives! What is the first thing I always do?  Yup I try the soup first off.  It was bland!  What happened to the stinky smell that lured me in?  Another scoop and it was bland! I was soooo disappointed.

Then a bit of the ramen noodes.  Ugh. Over cooked and mushy.  Oh man.  The waitress was a friendly Chinese lady and in the back I could see another middle aged Chinese lady chef.  There was really no heart in this bowl and simply a fast food franchise shop that has a stunning location just a few steps fro the train station.

Bad bad bad.... I don't do it often but left most of the noodles and tried my best to enjoy the boiled bean sprouts and bland soup.  If in Tokyo don't let a sign that says "Tokyo Ramen" lure you in!

EBISU: Kimukatsu for the most basic 1,000 yen tonkatsu lunch selection... Kinda too Oily Greasy but generous tabehoudai on the extras.

A fan of Kimukatsu for years during a time that I lived in Ebisu. Was in the area and just had to go again.

Lots of menu items from about 1,000 to 2,000 yen but in the very lower corner you will spot the lunch special for only 1,000 yen.

Oh, the most amazing thing here is the cabbage, miso soup, tasty rice and pickles are all you can eat!  Just keep reordering if you want to.

Thats all me!

This one with alot of tasty things in the middle was a pricey 1,980 yen.

So much rice!

What differs this spot from most Tonkatsu restaurants is that they use layers of pork.  If you look closely you can see it.

Overall the value was great but the tonkatsu was extremely overly greasy... it left a film of oil on my lips the whole time.  Very unusual to experience this and unsure why.  But this day the lunch crowd was filled with young Japanese, tourists and the businessman lunch goers.

EBISU: Motsuyaki Spot has been around for years... but the regulars asked for me not to blog about it.

I've always wanted to try this highly foodie ranked motsuyaki yakitori spot in Ebisu but its always closed on the weekend.  Went to visit on a Thursday and there was enough room for me to squeeze in at the counter facing the chef.

They don't serve draft but only HUGE bottled Asahi beers... I love bottle beers but this one was unusually big.

The best Motsu-Nikomi I have ever had... the flavoring was dripping with lard and had an addictive buttery flavor.  Super tender portions of meat and will be craving this fora while.

The chef is the son of the property owner.  Seems they have been in business for over 30 years.  Mom and Pop were in the kitchen helping out.

As the items start to sell out the wooded menu items are flipped around to show in red kanji "uri-kireh" (sold out).

I'll update with more after a few more visits and a few more pics.  But if you spot this place you gotta go inside!  There are no English menu's so study up on the menu kanji's before going.

HIROO: Sushi Misakimaru... sushi still extremely mediocre but Sush Chef Tanaka-san was awesome! PLUS LAMBORGHINIS!!

Yup this was February 14th... this year hasn't gone as to plan due to a slight error I made in January so this night I dine alone.  What caught my eye was the Thank You (3 San, 9 Q) special sale... lots of items 390 yen!

Chef Tanaka was spot on friendly from start to finish.

I went for the 3 tuna's for 390 yen!  Original plan was to just to have 1 small dish and move on.

Then came the 2nd 390 yen dish... ok... slices were a little bit smaller.

Ok! My 3rd and last plate...

Overall as with my last visit this place is at best very mediocre... the sushi is still on par with supermarket quality.  BUT its not so busy and the staff was friendly this night.  If you need a place to hang out and drink beer this is an easy choice.

Of course when in Hiroo I always check out the Azabu Lamborghini Dealership but when I was taking photo's a foreign guy walk past me then return to say that there were many more in the parking lot. WHAT!

So I walk around the corner behind the building...

And I first spot one yellow Aventador...

Then a bunch more parked in a big open lot.

Aventador S... like!

I've never seen so many Lamborghini's in one location.
